After Platinum storms out on the Metal Men again, the team surprisingly follows her, with Gold convincing her they've all chosen to break away from Doc Magnus and forge their own path. Meanwhile, a Guardian alerts Green Lantern that the Missile Men—alien invaders who've been hopping between planets stealing metal resources—are heading to Earth after already defeating another Green Lantern. General Caspar, believing the Metal Men are military property, decides to reclaim them while Magnus reveals he's created a new automaton. As the Metal Men settle into New York City and attempt independent life, Green Lantern discovers the Missile Men's leader Z-1 has designated Platinum as his queen.
