ACCESSIBILITY
STATEMENT
Last reviewed: May 1, 2026
OUR COMMITMENT
FindMeComics is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards to our work.
This site partially conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA β. βPartially conformsβ means that some parts of the content do not fully meet the standard β specifically, the areas listed under Known Limitations below. We are actively working to resolve each known issue and will update this statement when we do. These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible to people with disabilities, including those using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, or assistive input devices.
CONFORMANCE CLAIM
MEASURES WE'VE TAKEN
- We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across all public-facing pages.
- All images have descriptive alt text. Decorative images are marked aria-hidden.
- Every form control is associated with a visible label or aria-label.
- Colour contrast for body text meets the WCAG 4.5 : 1 AA minimum against all site backgrounds.
- All interactive elements expose keyboard-accessible focus rings (:focus-visible).
- A skip-navigation link is present at the top of every page.
- Error messages are announced via role="alert" so screen readers read them automatically.
- Touch targets on mobile are sized to at least 44 Γ 44 CSS pixels.
- Page structure uses semantic HTML landmarks (header, main, nav, footer).
- The site has been tested with VoiceOver (Safari/iOS) and NVDA (Chrome/Windows).
- Automated axe-core accessibility checks run on every CI build to catch regressions before deployment.
KNOWN LIMITATIONS
We are honest about what is not yet fully resolved.
Image covers
WCAG 2.1 SC 1.1.1 β Non-text Content (Level A)Cover images fetched from third-party sources (Comic Vine, Open Library) carry the alt text we generate from issue metadata. Occasionally a cover image arrives without a meaningful title, resulting in a generic description like "cover". We continue to improve metadata quality.
Rich-text guide entries
WCAG 2.1 SC 1.3.1 β Info and Relationships (Level A)Community-submitted reading-order guides may contain formatting that has not been manually audited for heading hierarchy and landmark structure. We review flagged guides on request.
Admin / internal tools
Out of scopeThe admin panel is accessible only to site operators and is excluded from this conformance claim. It is not intended for general public use.
Third-party payment flow
Third-party content β WCAG 2.1 Β§5 Conformance noteCheckout is handled by Stripe's hosted payment page. Under WCAG 2.1 Β§5, third-party content that is neither controlled by nor relied upon by this site is excluded from its conformance claim. Stripe publishes its own accessibility conformance report at stripe.com/accessibility.

STANDARDS & ASSESSMENT
FindMeComics assesses accessibility through a combination of self-evaluation, automated tooling (Lighthouse, axe-core in CI), and manual testing with screen readers. Automated axe-core checks run on every build via our CI pipeline using @axe-core/playwright, catching regressions before they reach production.
Self-attestation limitation: This conformance claim is based on our own evaluation and has not been independently verified by a third party. We are committed to commissioning a formal VPAT 2.4 audit from an accredited accessibility firm (Deque, TPGi, or Level Access) prior to public launch. This statement will be updated when that audit is complete.
This statement was prepared in accordance with the W3C's guidance on writing accessibility statements. We review and update it at least annually, or whenever a significant change is made to the site.
Relevant standards and legislation: Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.
