Arriving in Venice to retrieve ransom money paid to Doc Magnus, the Metal Men defeat robot guards only to find the vault empty and themselves surrounded by police. Eight weeks earlier, Magnus had just finished rebuilding the team after their battle with the Plutonium Man, but a glitch in Platinum's responsometer redirected her affections away from Magnus. General Caspar demanded Magnus return the ransom money from his blackmail scheme, but Magnus couldn't remember where he'd hidden it—his subconscious revealed it was in Venice, guarded by people named Francesca and Raimondo. However, the caretakers have stolen the money, and in the process unleashed Chemo upon Venice.
