After the Metal Men's ship crash-lands in a parking lot causing massive property damage, public hatred toward the team reaches its peak. A special council votes to condemn the Metal Men to destruction, and each team member is seemingly crushed in a car compactor at a junkyard. However, the execution is revealed to be an elaborate ruse orchestrated by Mr. Conan, who represents a secret organization fighting global oppression. With the world believing them dead, the Metal Men are given synthetic skin coverings and new human identities to operate in secret, spending six months establishing their covers before being ready to confront a mysterious threat called the Black Coven.
