Platinum's jealousy over Magnus's attention to the Sizzler sparks team conflict, which is interrupted when they encounter a new villain called the Balloon Man. After being attacked mid-flight, the Metal Men return to headquarters only to learn the Balloon Man is committing robberies across the city. Despite multiple attempts to stop him, the Metal Men find themselves repeatedly thwarted by the villain's unusual abilities and tactics, leading to frustrating defeats as the Balloon Man continues his crime spree.
