When an explosion injures Doc Magnus and destroys the Sizzler, the Metal Men must operate on their creator to save his life. With Magnus recovering and Platinum refusing to leave his bedside, Gold takes command of the team. The depleted Metal Men soon face their most dangerous recurring enemy, Chemo, who returns with plans involving Platinum. As Chemo launches a devastating campaign of destruction, the Metal Men are picked off one by one in brutal encounters, leaving fewer and fewer heroes standing to protect Magnus and stop the chemical monster's rampage.
