MARVEL SUPER SPECIAL

Marvel's premiere magazine series of the 1970s and 1980s featuring movie adaptations and original stories based around then current pop culture trends. Numbering continues from A Marvel Comics Super Special #4. Early issues of this volume include "A" at the start of the title in the indicia but this is dropped by issue 10. #7 was produced but never published, it was translated into other languages around the time of its intended publication (see: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band). In 1977 Marvel began publishing a full-color magazine series devoted to concepts thought to be deserving of special treatment, such as Kiss' first comics appearance as headliners, new stories of Conan, Star-Lord and Weirdworld, and occasional movie adaptations. With issue #14 however, the magazine became an irregularly published vehicle for comics versions of new films. The series lasted 41 issues.
