BRONZE AGE

1970–1983

The art stays recognisably Silver Age while the writing changes: drug storylines, social subjects, and characters allowed to lose. The Comics Code loosens, horror returns, and the direct market begins shifting sales from newsstands to comic shops, which changes what gets printed and what survives in high grade.

Series are placed by the year they began, so a long run appears in the age it started rather than every age it ran through. Where an age begins and ends is a matter of convention, and the edges are argued over. All ages.
