John Carter and Tars Tarkas discus the assassination of Mordin. Upon arriving in Marahn, Carter and Mordin begin an extended hand-to-hand battle with Tars Tarkas joining the combat before it is finished.
As the story unfolds, John Carter attempts to rescue Dejah Thoris from the Tharks who had taken her captive.
