The X-Men arrive in Washington and witness the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants - Pyro, Avalanche, and the Blob - launch their attack. Meanwhile, Gambit manages to escape from Wolverine and Bishop, following the other X-Men to Washington, with Wolverine and Bishop on his tail. The X-Men defeat Pyro, Blob and Avalanche, but neither Gambit or Robert Kelly - the supposed assassin and his victim - are anywhere in sight.
