SECRET SOCIETY OF SUPER-VILLAINS #11

A Changing of the GuardGorilla Grodd is imprisoned in Gorilla City after going up against Wonder Woman and the Atom in Super-Team Family #14 - The End of the Quest. Floronic Man and Star Sapphire return to Sinister Citadel and tell Funky Flashman they will be quitting the Secret Society of Super-Villains. Captain Comet (secretly Adam Blake) prevents a train derailment in San Francisco. Overwhelmed by the crowd of onlookers demanding his attention, he leaves to return to his apartment. He ponders how much society has changed since the last time he was on Earth. His girlfriend Debbie (who, unbeknownst to Adam, is the same Star Sapphire he knows as a former Society teammate) surprises him with a visit. They get dinner and Debbie confides in Adam about her romantic history. The couple expresses their love for one another and make plans for the following day. Floronic Man steals a batch of chemicals from Vulcan Industries, hoping to recreate the formula that turned him from Dr. Jason Woodrue to the Floronic Man. He intends to turn everyone on Earth into plant-people like him. The villain takes his stolen chemicals back to Sinister Citadel. The Wizard, who has been in police custody since the events of Secret Society of Super-Villains #10 - Triumph and Treachery, tells the district attorney he wants to explain the magical artifacts he was caught stealing. The attorney brings him the artifacts in a briefcase and the magician grabs them and disappears. The Wizard reappears in Sinister Citadel in a new costume and catches Floronic Man offguard by attacking his plants. He exclaims that his magical powers were waning in this new dimension and he needed the sorcerer's artifacts to restore his abilities. Wizard and Floronic Man come to blows and ultimately the magician is able to defeat Woodrue. Wizard declares himself the new leader of the Society and demands Star Sapphire follow him or be defeated as well. Star Sapphire and Floronic Man both agree to follow Wizard's orders, but Funky Flashman is fired from the team.
