The Metal Men return from their Moon mission when they're suddenly attacked by the Inheritor, who reveals he was also created by Doc Magnus and possesses all their abilities plus additional powers. After Magnus furiously questions the Inheritor about attacking the Metal Men—who the android identified as the next logical threat after the Missile Men—the team returns to their apartment only to find General Caspar with soldiers, declaring them military property. Seeking a peaceful solution, the Metal Men visit the UN to meet Diana Prince (Wonder Woman), who connects them with civil liberties lawyer Crystal Carpenter to request "Citizens of the World" status through diplomatic negotiations and a General Assembly vote.
