Doc Magnus builds a second team of Metal Men to serve as replacements, pairing each original member with a new trainee made from a different metal. When Platinum violently clashes with her replacement Iridium out of jealousy, she quits the team and encounters a mysterious imprisoned intelligence called Darzz the Dictator. After Platinum releases him, Darzz gains the ability to animate and control objects, first inhabiting a statue, then a sports car, and finally a skyscraper that he transforms into a walking colossus that attacks the city.
