Bobby is at Winterbrand and is at the mercy of Alain, Bobby pretends to go along with Alain’s plans while Foe-Dog and Opal work in the background to help Bobby. Foe-Dog rescues baby Robert from the facility and brings him to Opal and then returns to help Bobby. Alain links himself to an adult prototype and becomes a living fire/lava thing. When Bobby and Alain fight, the prototype on Alain becomes overloaded and kills Alain.
Bobby decides to quit the X-Men and move in with Opal to help raise the child, but when he gets to Opals apartment he discovers a tape of her telling the truth about Robert. It turns out that Robert wasn’t Bobby’s son after all, and Opal had decided to move away, but even though now knowing that the boy really isn’t his son, he still would have stayed with her.
