The Hellboy series is published as a series of self-contained but still inter-connected mini-series and one-shots. This one-shot represents issue 46 in the ongoing Hellboy meta-series. It was preceded by Hellboy: The Bride of Hell and followed by Hellboy: The Storm.
Since this story was published, several sequels have been written set in this time period, including the original graphic novel Hellboy: House of the Living Dead.
