Backstage at a live show of the kids phenomenon "The Cutie Pies" to meet with their old dance teacher, who performs in costume as one of the Pies, Betty and Veronica are pressed into service in costume when the scheduled performers can't make the show. Veronica enlists Betty's help to help her prepare for a date. Ever-competitive Veronica feels the need to one-up Betty every time she acquires something in the new fashion statement of plaid.
