Disregarding the ending of the original Battle Angel Alita volume, the story of Battle Angel Alita: Last Order has Alita resurrected by Desty Nova several years after her destruction by a doll-bomb, for maniacal and scientific reasons. With no connection to her past, Alita finds a horrible and unfamiliar future. She is once again forced to fight.
