In order to keep the death of a mayor character in X-Force 128 a secret, Mike Allred drew 2 promo-covers for X-Statix 1 beside the true cover. Those promo covers featured different characters, so it was not known whom would perish and whom would live.
Note: The cover is a homage of the cover of Giant-Size X-Men #1.
