First up, an untold tale of Wolvie's arch-nemesis, the mutant madman known as Sabretooth! SynopsisPart 1, Don't Look Back in AngerLogan approaches Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. In his mind he knows that he has found a place to call home. As he draws nearer, Kitty informs him that the Danger Room is prepped for a practice session. Wolverine bows out of practice in order to have a one-on-one session with Xavier. He muses about how everyone else knows who they are. He, on the other hand, is still searching. Sitting down with Professor Xavier, the two discuss the next possible solution to figuring out where Wolverine came from. Xavier has tried everything. He does have an idea, though. He'd like Wolverine to accompany him into Wolverine's own mind, a dangerous idea, since Xavier will need total trust and cooperation, something hard to come by with someone as capricious as Wolverine is. Xavier begins the experiment. Once in Wolverine's mind, the two men find themselves trapped in a cubic, stone room. Xavier explains that the walls have been erected by Wolverine himself. Not one to be held back by barriers, Wolverine attempts to rip the walls down. The stone is easy enough, but there is a tougher barrier immediately behind it. Xavier explains that Wolverine's mind isn't so easy to navigate. Wolverine's subconscious must have some things it wants to keep hidden. Wolverine exerts all he has and finally rips through the outer wall. He and Xavier step through the hole to find shards, fragments, of Wolverine's memories: fighting the Hulk, running with wolves, and hanging out with Captain America, among others. Wolverine is stumped, sure that some of the memories must be false since some look to be from ages in the past. Xavier hypothesizes that Wolverine must be older than originally thought, something aided by Wolverine's healing factor. Wolverine can't place many of the memories. Sabretooth steps from the recesses of Wolverine's mind and offers to help. The two battle, but when Wolverine goes for the kill, he learns that Sabretooth really is just a figment of his mind. Sabretooth then relates a simple story in which he and Wolverine had been on the same team years back. Memories flood and Wolverine sees his abduction at the hands of some goons. He asks where he was taken and Sabretooth shows a large penitentiary-like place. Sabretooth refuses to enter; he's had his fill with the place. Wolverine and Xavier enter and see Wolverine's body in the Weapon X tanks. This story continues in the next issue. The RecruitSabretooth approaches an old cabin in the Canadian wilderness. He crumples up an invitation and tries to shake the feeling that he is about to be drafted into some cause. In the cabin, Sabretooth is greeted by a shadowed, bald man. The stranger acknowledges that Sabretooth has a reputation for tracking, a point that led to inviting him in the first place. The stranger then comments on Sabretooth's past, like when he went rogue on a Team X mission or about his father abusing him. The stranger then explains that Sabretooth's many gifts have prepared him for the stranger's program. Sabretooth refuses to think he can do anything worthwhile, but the stranger simply says it is in Sabretooth's hands to prove the world wrong about who he's become. The program, says the stranger, is to help find people. The stranger slides a folder marked "Classified: Weapon X," and explains that Sabretooth knows the person to be located first. Opening the file, Sabretooth sees Wolverine's face and gets angry. He charges the stranger but freezes in mid-stride. The stranger turns out to be Xavier. He wheels himself out of harm's way and puts into Sabretooth's mind that the meeting had never happened. When Sabretooth awakens, he feels as if he's just woken from a bad dream. He leaves, mulling over a though Xavier left in his mind: a war is coming. — Description from Comic Vine community (comicvine.gamespot.com).
