UNTOLD TALES OF THE NEW UNIVERSE: STAR BRAND #1

Ken Connell meets an interdimensional researcher looking for the wearer of the Star Brand. She wants to know more about the man in charge of the most powerful weapon in the galaxy. He wants to know if she’s single. The data raises the question: is Ken worthy to wield the power of the brand--is anyone in the New Universe? SummaryArden, a scientist from a parallel dimension who studies the Star Brand, shows up in the New Universe. She runs into Gladiator, a human paranormal who Ken Connell threw into space in Star Brand 8. After talking to him and finding out about Ken, she leaves him there and flies to Earth. She invisibly spies on Ken for a while, seeing him with his friends Myron and Debbie the Duck. She is not impressed. Ken realizes that someone is following him, however, and manages to grab her and her ship. She falls out and Ken (never one to avoid meeting new ladies) saves her. She explains that she is from an alternate reality, and talks a little about some of the other Star Brands and universes. It turns out that universes which are pretty "normal" often use comic books to reflect the actual adventures in other, more "unusual" universes. [Spider-Man, Hulk, Thing, Silver Surfer, Galactus, Mr. Fantastic, and Daredevil appear only as an allusion to these comics.] The New Universe is a pretty normal one, and it's unusual that he has powers. She has actually read the comic books from another dimension (presumably ours) about him. She also theorizes that the Star Brand power is a multiversal power that runs throughout all existence. She makes him realize what a weird set of friends he has, and that he hasn't really been living up to his potential. They go dig up some diamonds, hang out on a beach, and sleep together.
