Superman battles Zod and Zod reveals that he is the one behind the vanishings, stating that he was able to manipulate a machine made by Superman to cause it. As Superman fights him Zod calls out his character and informs him that he is neither Super nor a Man. Superman is able to destroy the device and seemingly take the people that vanished out of the area.
