In the aftermath of Ken's battle with the Old Man, he finds himself lost in space. Now he must not panic and keep his wits about him, or the power of the Star Brand will fail and he will perish in the cold void of space. But that can't happen for he has a date with destiny.
He manages to figure out how to get home and sees Duck, who's in the hospital after being hurt by the Old Man. Then he goes to see Barb, who breaks up with him. He starts to get paranoid about the Old Man--did he really kill him? He finds out the answer is No, because the Old Man starts leaving threatening messages all over the place, demanding the return of the Brand. The Old Man finally calls and says he's going to kill Duck if Ken doesn't show up.
The Old Man has his hand on her throat in the hospital. Ken shows up and says he'll have to kill her, because he won't give in, the Old Man is too dangerous to have the power of the Brand. The Old Man is stunned at his response, and Ken takes advantage of the moment. They battle all over the area, and Ken apparently kills him, throwing his body into space. He goes back to Duck so they can be together.
