Eclipso has awakened the ancient dark God Umbra from the waters off Diablo Island, and in return receives a thousandfold increase in power that he uses to overwhelm the Metal Men. As Eclipso pursues Mona Bennet to sacrifice her to Umbra, the Metal Men battle to stop him while Doc Magnus appears shellshocked. When the team manages to temporarily transform Eclipso back into Dr. Bruce Gordon, he reveals Umbra's origins—an incredibly powerful being from Earth's infancy who was worshipped as a god before being imprisoned by tribal mystics, and whose cult used fragments of his black diamond as weapons while plotting his return.
