A villain claiming to be the modern reincarnation of Genghis Khan demonstrates his deadly laser sword to foreign scientists before attacking the Metal Men while they perform for children. When he decapitates the entire team with one strike, Platinum's severed head tells the frightened children the origin story of the Metal Men—how they were first created to battle a giant radioactive manta ray that emerged from the Arctic. With Magnus critically injured and most of the team destroyed, only Platinum and Nameless remain standing to face the sword-wielding attacker.
