Though unnumbered, this series was spawned by the first Timely comic, Marvel Comics, which is now considered to be "issue 1" of the series. Marvel Mystery Comics was the first Marvel Comics series. It was home to many of the first Marvel heroes, such as the original Human Torch, Captain America and Namor, the Sub-Mariner, among others.
The numbering of Marvel Mystery Comics continues in Marvel Tales starting with issue 93.
