Initially launched by Die Cast Machine Tools Ltd (DCMT) as a tie in to their Lone Star toy range, Lone Star Magazine was subsequently bought by Atlas Publishing. It ran for a decade and around 100 issues, before cancelling in 1962. As well as starring the Lone Star Rider, it also featured pirate strip Captain Cutlass and space hero Ace Hart, who was renamed Space Ace with the magazine's third issue to avoid confusion with Foldes Press' space hero Ace Hart.
Numbering for Issues is divided into 8 Volumes. Volume 1 encompasses Issues 1-34, then on Volume 2 internal Issue numbering restarts at 13 assuming a 12 issue run for volume 1. Because of this numbering Issue numbering will done by Volume and Issue to keep sequential numbering format.
