The Justice League takes a merciless approach in its dealings with opposition in "Destiny's Hand Part I." (Part 1 of 4.)
The whole issue is an alternate reality were the Justice League of America become all powerful. In this issue alone Star Sapphire is killed by the Martian Manhunter. Hawkman cuts off Sinestro's Arm at the shoulder and Flash and Atom let a nuclear bomb explode at its own base. Green Lantern Hal Jordan is Vice President of the United Stats and controls the country. The Justice League even have their own task force who psi-scrub the brains of any criminals. The only heroes who question this power at all are Batman and Green Arrow.
