Judge Dredd Megazine #485 is OUT NOW! Thirty-five years ago, Judge Dredd The Megazine (as it was then called) was launched a a monthly sister title to 2000 AD, its remit to explore the world of the future lawman - and amazingly, here we still are, three and a half decades later, shining a light on the gritty corners of the Dreddverse. We’re celebrating this milestone with a brand-new roster of stories starting this issue, with the returns of Armitage, Anderson, Psi-Div and Dreadnoughts as well as the follow-up to 2020’s acclaimed Megatropolis, the recent passing of artist Dave Taylor making it a particular poignant moment as we publish his final work. Plus there’s a chat with Peter Doherty, who was of course amongst the launch line-up back in 1990 on Boyhood of a Superfiend - and talking of the Dark Judge, we’ve got both novels and specials coming out this month that mark Death’s own forty-fifth anniversary. Enjoy! JUDGE DREDD //LETTER FROM AMERICAMega-City One, 2146 AD. This vast urban hell on the east coast of post-apocalyptic North America is home to over 200 million citizens, bordered by the irradiated Cursed Earth to the west and the toxic Black Atlantic to the east. Tensions run a knife-edge and crime is rampant. Stemming the tide of chaos are the Judges. Toughest of them all is Judge Dredd - he is the Law! MEGATROPOLIS II, Part OneImagine a Mega-City One from an alternate timeline - less the gleaming metropolis of the twenty-second century but instead an art deco retro-future variation. Joe Rico is the one good cop in a police department riddled with corruption, and partnered with the young Amy Jara, they investigated a series of vigilante killings committed by a robot… ARMITAGE // DROKK THE RIPPER, Part OneBrit-Cit, 2147 AD. While the UK equivalent of Mega-City One has its own Judge force, it’s retained its CID plainclothes division, of which Detective Inspector Armitage was one of its veteran officers. Now a consultant, who works on cold cases, Armitage hasn’t lost his surly demeanour and distrust of authority - and the department heads have no love for him either… ANDERSON, PSI-DIV // HELL NIGHT AT THE CINE-PITMega-City One, 2147 AD. Psi-Div is a section within Justice Department that deals with the supernatural, and its operatives all have psi-powers, from telepathy to psychokinesis. Cassandra Anderson is one of the division’s most experienced and powerful officers, having saved the city on numerous occasions from paranormal threats… ROK THE GOD // Chapter FourThe hilarious sequel to Rok of the Reds. Alien footballer Rok becomes a god - but even gods have enemies. Meanwhile ten-inch-high Kyle Dixon and corrupt referee Nigel Bull go on the strangest ‘buddy movie’ break out you can imagine. DREADNOUGHTS // QUALIFIED IMMUNITY, Part OneUSA, 2036 AD. The new Justice Department is still in its early years, with Judges working alongside the police. It’s proving an explosive transition, with many citizens - and more than a few cops - unhappy with these helmeted officers taking to the streets. Boulder, Colorado, was a recent flashpoint, and now the Judges’ influence is spreading wider to California…
