A new series of Doctor Who Annuals launched to tie in with the revived TV show. Initially published by Panini, current holder of the license to publish Doctor Who Magazine, they follow the format of the past Doctor Who Annuals and Yearbooks, with a mixture of features, text stories and comic strips, although from the second (2007) annual on, much of the story content was split off into a separate volume, Panini's Doctor Who Storybook series, leaving the annuals, now published by BBC Books, to concentrate more on games, activities and puzzles aimed at younger readers.
