Proper Japanese Title: ブラック・ジャック大全集
Produced as part of Black Jack's 40th anniversary, this collection was the first attempt made to reprint the original Black Jack series as it was first published. Notably, Black Jack had been drastically rearranged multiple times through reprints over the decades with three different major editions starting in Tezuka's lifetime that all had different orders, all omitted different chapters, all had decade-long gaps between certain issues and all were the first editions to reprint some Black Jack chapters (see: 1, 2, 3).
In the 00's, the trend shifted towards reprinting the series in more of an original publication order including revamped and expanded editions of the 1st and 2nd Black Jack collections (see: 1.2, 2.2). But these versions still omitted different chapters. There was also a special issue of the third edition that reprinted some chapters in color (see: AllColor-Ban) but the Daizenshū was the first to reproduce the color chapters in color while also keeping them within the original publication order. While there were still three notably omitted chapters (1, 2, 3), including one that had originally been reprinted in the first edition; this was the most complete collection of the series yet produced.
