Starting as a Pulp hero called the Black Bat who appeared a few months before Detective # 27, he too came to the comics, but because of deal made with DC he was called The Mask there, both the pulp and the comic version were gone by 1941, but he returns under his original name of the Black Bat in a new series from Moonstone.
