Aquaman and his wife Mera are forced to save travelers on a sinking ship in the middle of the ocean. The couple however manages to keep the ship from sinking while saving sailors who have went overboard. Aquaman returns to Atlantis ready to return to his throne, while a Atlantis patrol ship disappears with a severe psychic backlash being detected,in the very place the Ocean Master was believed to perish. Meanwhile Aquaman grows increasingly erratic to Mera's concern, to the point of almost willing allowing a sub of Russians to die, until Mera saves them.They then learn the origin of the blob on the ocean floor, a Russian scientist who grew mutated through unfortunate experiments. The blob then manages to bait Aquaman into attacking him, absorbing him where he confronts the scientist inside, who reveals the inside is a universe which will continually grow and threaten all in Aquaman's universe. Magus then reveals the reason for Aquaman's erratic behavior, as he battled Orm in his astral battle his soul became split when he couldn't face killing his own brother to show his love. Aquaman eventually defeats Magus destroying his universe while reuniting his soul self.
