"THE GHOST OF BILLY THE KID PART 1" a man claiming to be Billy the Kid robs a charity costume ball. the J.S.A. decides to investigate, their only lead being a newspaper clipping about a professor who was committed for repeatedly insisting to the police he had encountered Billy the Kid. they go see the professor who tells his story of being abducted and taken to an old west town about an hour's ride from his home and informs them Billy always stole gold so the break up into teams to cover all the places he would likely strike. "PART 2" Black Canary and Hawkman head to a metal refinery and fail to stop billy from taking a gold shipment on a bus. next Flash, Wonder Woman, and Dr. Mid-Nite try and fail to protect a gold payment coming in on a plain. "PART 3" A radio host reports that the newspaper just published an old Indian treasure map leading to a lost gold mine right in the heart of the city. Billy quickly figures where he thinks the map leads and takes his gang there only to find a crew already digging up the spot. they put explosives in the hole, blowing open the side of a bank vault but it turns out to be a trap by Green Lantern and The Atom. they get his men but Billy escapes. back at J.S.A. headquarters, each group reveals that as they chased Billy from the sean he disappeared like a ghost. they figure their best bet is to find the old west town the professor mentioned so they go to see him again but he is gon and they find a note telling them to go to the Civic City Arena. they arrive to find it has been closed since the recent death of a rodeo star. venturing inside they find the old west town which is made up of rodeo props. Billy steps out, saying he left the note as a trap and ordering them to surrender or he kills the professor. they obey and he binds them to a stagecoach, sending it hurtling toward a shed full of TNT but once the professor is away from billy and his men Green Lantern uses his ring to give the coach a team of horses and guide it where he wants. the team frees themselves and make quick work of Billy and his gang. in the fight "Billy's" mask is knocked off and he is revealed to be the supposedly dead rodeo star.
