ULTRAVERSE YEAR ZERO: THE DEATH OF THE SQUAD #2

The Squad decide to test and train their special abilities before going public. When D.J. Blast informs the rest of the Squad that he wants to take down gang violence in his community, the others agree to help him. Before they can do anything, the gang in his neighborhood kidnap D.J. Blast's girlfriend and sister. The Squad goes to the gang's hideout and rescues the two women and hurting many gang members in the process. The police arrive at the scene and arrest the Squad for being vigilantes. However, the mayor and the chief of police talk to them and tell them they could fight crime under their jurisdiction. That's when the Squad goes public. They receives a plethora of fan-mail and one letter prompts Hardcase to reprimand a man who beats his wife. After that, Hardcase and Starburst share their mutual attraction to each other. It was with Starburst that Hardcase finds out the man he reprimanded killed his wife and children, much to his guilt. In a backup story, Rune hunts and kills a man who hunts ultrahumans.
