In the midst of drought, Dunk and his squire Egg find that the problems his lord Ser Eustace faces run deeper than the river water the Red Widow has taken for her own. As they seek to make amends for an attack on one of the Red Widow's men, old wounds are revisited and Ser Eustace's old offenses are brought to light...and Dunk must take up his sword in defense of his lord. But is his lord worth defending?
