The evil sorcerer Vagnado has stolen the Crystal Ball of Souls, and now he is plotting with Marmo to capture all of Lodoss! Spark, the Heroic Knight, is leading a quarreling group of heroes to reclaim this occult treasure, and they arrive at Hilt, where they learn that the governor and King Kashu are preparing for the final battle with Marmo. The powerful fighter Gallac wants to abandon the search and join the fight, and Spark has to hold his group together to continue their quest, encouraged by Parn.
