Following Marvel's 2011 decision that no new Marvel material could be produced outside of the U.S. comics, Panini replaced its U.K. pre-schoolers' comic Spider-Man and Friends, which had utilised new strips, with Marvel Super Hero Squadron Magazine, reprinting the American Marvel Super Hero Squad comic. The new title began in October 2011, immediately after the final issue of Spider-Man and Friends was published. It is released every four weeks
