Prolific British children's author Enid Blyton's best known creations are the Famous Five, a group of four children and their dog who get into several adventures and solve mysteries together. In 1977 a series of Famous Five Annuals were launched, each one adapting one of the novels. A TV adaptation of the books in 1978-1979 boosted public awareness of the novels again, and several of the annuals used photos from the series. The original run of annuals ended in 1985 (with an annual cover dated 1986), but in 1996 a single additional annual was published to tie in with another TV series adaptation of the books.
