Two Spear has his maddening vision of the humans' way of life. He emerges as an insensitive and ruthless murderer who begins to vanquish all people from the forest. An orphan boy witnesses the murdering of his mother by Two-Spear's hand.
Two-Spear returns to the Wolfriders in order to call council and announce plans for a war of racial extinction. But Huntress Skyfire has already found and adopted the orphan. In the council she pleads on behalf of the tribe, claiming that her brother is insane. She challenges him for the right to be wolfrider chief.
