Oakroot finds a small cat named "Winterleaf" whom he would like to adopt on behalf of the Wolfriders, a dog-loving clan. His patience and charisma is what is needed to overcome the strong distrust element prevalent in most of his tribe. Winterleaf proves his use by killing off poisonous snakes that threaten a young elf-maiden.
He shows personality traits similar to Tyleet (gentleness) and is the only other Wolfrider to have a cat-companion instead of wolf(dog) besides Pike.
