During L.B. Cole's run on the character the super strength and healing, as well as the military academy high-jinks, crime & spy busting and vaguely homoerotic undercurrent that had been a part of Dick Cole since his start in 1940 were dropped and forgotten, and he became an all around high school athlete and even ended up with mother and father that had never appeared before.
